RESUMO: O século XVII inaugura um período de viagens sistemáticas de europeus ao Oriente. Dentre eles, dois grupos se destacam: ingleses e franceses. Os textos resultantes de tais viagens, conhecidos como travel literature (literatura de viagem) ou récit de voyage (narrativa de viagem), comungavam, além do tema, princípios de organização textual. Dentro disso, busca-se, aqui, discutir os fundamentos de tais narrativas, assim como as possíveis relações estabelecidas entre essas narrativas, a Ficção e a História, e o espaço de criação imaginária sobre o harém.

ABSTRACT: During the 17th-century, a large number of Europeans traveled to the East. Among them, two groups can be distinguished: English and French. The texts produced from these travels, known as travel literature or récit de voyage, shared, beyond the subject, principles of textual organization. In this sense, I seek to discuss the fundamentals of such narratives, as well as the possible relations between these narratives, Fiction and History, and the space of imaginative creation about the seraglio.
